How to wear the colours right in 2017-18 Deidaatip

As mentioned, I use the Australian Cherry tree in my front yard as my weather meter. When it begins to shed leaves, I know it is time to air my scarves. When it sprouts the first few blossoms, I can tell spring is around the corner. The first few flowers have bloomed on the Cherry tree. I know the time has come to ponder upon how to wear the colours right in 2017- 18.

What are the colours trending on the runways? How to wear the colours right in 2017 – 18? Follow these top 5 tips to:

Wear the colours right in 2017 -18:

1. Sparkle in gemstone hues:

Reveal your power woman persona, dressed in electric lapis lazuli blue. Ruffle up your lapis blue dress a la Gucci or rev up your corporate avatar with lapis shirt dresses. Deidaa’s cobalt blue evening dress is an instant fashion fix. Free size and lightweight, this dress can be a life saver when a formal occasion sneaks up on you.

2. Be the scarlet woman:

Paint the town red in the shade that is a median between red and orange. Are you too faint hearted to wear this much flamboyance in a dress, wear it in a red pashmina scarf. A red pashmina scarf is a perfect antidote to drab winter mornings.

3. Go green:

Greenery in all shades is is the flavour of the season. Borrow from nature. Join the kale festival and celebrate health and well-being.

4. Join the 50 shades of  pink club:

The entire gamut of pink from Dagwood to Yarrow is reliving the ‘legally blonde’ dream. No wonder Deidaa’s fuchsia designer silk scarf is enjoying an unprecedented run of success.

5. Dare to shimmer:

Embrace metallics but be discreet. Shiny clothes can make you look bigger than you are. Wear shimmer in accessories. A chain mail clutch bag can be an answer to your metallic prayers without adding to your silhouette. Deidaa’s beaded  clutch bags come with metallic side slings that give you the hands-free option.

Travel tip – how I survived a trans – hemisphere flight

Petrified! That’s what I was, faced with a 15-hour trans-hemisphere flight from Melbourne to LA! How did I finally manage to take off on a chilly winter morning and make a smooth landing on a sizzling LAX runway? I followed travel tip 1 – 5.

Travel tip – STACK UP THE LAYERS:

For this long haul flight, I paired stretchy stovepipe pants with a crisp cotton top. A leopard print trench coat camouflaged the cotton top – an anomaly in Melbourne winter. After all, camouflage is the original function of leopard prints, isn’t it? When I reach LAX, a leopard print fringed cotton scarf replaced the leopard print trench coat. The leopard print scarf added an edge to a basic trouser-top outfit.

Travel Tip – Go with the flow:

On board a flight, I abandon structured blazers in favour of flowing kaftans. Kaftans are lightweight and fuss – free. They travel well and are very comfortable on long – haul flights. Striped or digitally printed kaftans can be dressed up and down. These tunics work well across cultures and climates.

Travel Tip – Wrap up:

I cannot sing enough praise of my burgundy pashmina scarf I carried on my long haul flight. It kept me warm at Melbourne airport. On the flight, it doubled up as a throw and kept in – flight chill at bay.

Ease the crease:

Very often, I have to walk straight into a meeting from the airport. Crease free and lightweight tunics keep me from looking like a scarecrow and preserve my board room persona.

Be ready for the paparazzi:

On every trip, a couple of formal events seem to sneak up on me. In anticipation of this, I pack a couple of silk dresses, in vibrant colours like cobalt blue,  that roll up into nothing. Combined with a statement clutch bag, these dresses ensure I am ready for the red carpet.
